Our School
Chaplaincy
Welcome to the Chaplaincy and Catholic Life section of our school.
Here, we foster a strong sense of community, faith, and service, where students are encouraged to grow spiritually, intellectually, and morally. The chaplaincy is at the centre of our school life, offering support, guidance, and a place for reflection for all students and staff, regardless of religious background.
As part of our commitment to the spiritual development of our students, tutor groups regularly visit the school chapel for moments of prayer and reflection. These visits offer a peaceful space away from the busy school day, where students can connect with God, share their concerns, and reflect on their personal and academic journey.
Multifaith work thrives in our chaplaincy as well. We celebrate and respect the rich diversity of our school community, encouraging an environment where students of all faiths are welcomed and supported in their spiritual practices. We encourage understanding and respect for all beliefs through interfaith conversations and collaborative activities.
The school’s Mission Team plays a pivotal role in shaping our ethos as a Catholic school. The team actively leads and engages other students in living out the Gospel values through participation in Masses and other liturgies, and organizing various faith-based activities. Their passion and dedication help to strengthen our Catholic identity while fostering service and charity within and beyond the school community.
Charity work is an essential aspect of our Catholic life. Throughout the year, we are committed to reaching out to those in need through local charities like foodbanks, and international charity organisations like CAFOD. Our students lead various fundraising initiatives and community volunteer projects to support these charities. A deeper understanding of the virtues of compassion, empathy, and social responsibility is developed by putting their faith into action.
Our chaplaincy and Catholic life seek to nurture the whole person—spiritually, academically, and socially—preparing students to live with purpose, kindness, and a heart for service.

The Chapel is open every lunchtime and at break time with various activities to dip in and out of. We have Movie Mondays (with popcorn), Cornerstone Music on Wednesdays (with juice and biscuits) and Christian Union on Fridays (with hot chocolate, cream and marshmallows). On a Wednesday break time we have Soul Space, where we take time out to reflect and pray on our own. Friday mornings between 8 and 8.30 we serve hot chocolate and toast at Breakfast Club. Chaplaincy is at the heart of our school’s Catholic life and mission, playing an integral role in shaping our community. Our chaplains provide opportunities for prayer and worship in both formal and informal settings, ensuring that faith remains a living, active part of our daily lives. They run retreats for all year groups, giving students a chance to deepen their understanding of Catholic values and scripture, while also fostering stronger relationships with God and one another.
Each week, chaplains facilitate tutor group visits to the chapel, offering a reflective space for students to explore and grow in their faith. They also organise all liturgies and Masses throughout the year, helping to unite our school in prayer. Additionally, chaplains play a vital role in supporting some of our most vulnerable students, offering a safe, non-judgmental space for them to pause, reflect, and seek guidance. Their presence is a source of comfort and support, and their conversations with students are always open and respectful.
Beyond the school, chaplains also help facilitate team-building among mission representatives, and regularly support events across the diocese, ensuring that our community is connected in faith both within and beyond our school.
