HW Secondary
Transition
Moving to Secondary Phase
BUCKS transition day for Year 6 Students will be 1st and 2nd July 2025.
Key Information:
Tutor Group Allocation
Students will be allocated a tutor group upon entry to year 7. These groups are based upon varying factors such as potential positive friendships, a blend of students' academic levels and suitability of form group. These are Mathew, Mark, Luke, John and Paul.
Setting for Core Subjects
All students are carefully placed into sets based upon their academic ability in English, Maths and Science. Students will sit CAT tests which alongside their KS2 results will inform decisions made upon setting of classes. Sets are fluid and groups are adapted throughout the school year depending on progress.
Class Charts
Classcharts is an online system which is used by our school to record Community Credits, (for positive behaviour) and Behaviour Points (for poor behaviour). On starting Year 7, students and parents are given login details for their classcharts account to monitor behaviour, communicate with staff and to view their set homework.
Community Credits
These are earnt for excellent work in the lesson or for great homework. They may also be awarded for recognition of any other positive or kind behaviour or achievement.
Behaviour Points
These are given for negative behaviour, missed homework, uniform infringements or any other actions that fall short of our school ethos and values.
